UCF’s Main campus has close to 7,000 trees living within its landscape. It is the Urban Forestry team’s job to keep these trees healthy. Caring for the trees on campus includes, but is not limited to, pruning branches that are obstructive to campus activities or that are going to cause the tree to grow irregularly, tending to nutrient deficiencies, air spading roots when soil compaction becomes an issue, hand selecting healthy trees for installation on campus, monitoring tree installation, and removing trees that have become hazardous.
